Managing your availability

As a new host on NZZL, setting up your availability correctly ensures guests can book smoothly while giving you full control over your schedule. The availability tools allow you to decide when guests can stay, how long they can stay, and how much preparation time you need between bookings.

Setting your trip length

Trip-length settings determine the minimum and maximum number of nights guests can book. Adjusting these helps your listing appear in more search results and ensures your calendar works for your hosting preferences.

Minimum nights

Lowering your minimum-night requirement helps attract guests who need short stays — great for filling gaps between longer bookings. You can set different minimum-night rules depending on the day of check-in.

Maximum nights

If you prefer fewer turnovers or want to attract long-stay guests, increasing your maximum trip length helps. You can also allow guests to request stays longer than your maximum — perfect if you’re open to longer bookings but want to manually approve them.

Custom trip lengths

For specific dates — such as gaps between reservations — you can set custom minimum-night requirements that differ from your usual settings. This helps you fill those awkward date ranges that might otherwise stay empty.

Automatic availability tips

If your settings block certain dates, you’ll receive tips on how to adjust them. For example, if you have 4 open nights between bookings but your minimum stay is 5 nights, the system may suggest lowering the minimum for those days to avoid wasted availability.

Managing when guests can book

Availability settings help you define how far in advance guests can book and how much notice you need before their arrival.

Advance notice

You choose how much time you want between a guest’s booking and their check-in. Options typically include same-day up to 7 days’ notice. If you set at least 1 day of notice, you can still allow short-notice requests that you approve manually.

Same-day booking cutoff

If you accept same-day bookings, set the latest time a guest can check in. You can choose any hour that suits you — for example, 6:00 AM through midnight.

Preparation time

Preparation time automatically blocks nights before or after bookings so you have enough time to clean and reset your property. You can select:

  • No prep time
  • 1 night before and after
  • 2 nights before and after

Availability window

Choose how far in advance guests can book — 3, 6, 9, 12, or 24 months. A longer window increases your visibility to planners and travelers booking far ahead.

Check-in / check-out restrictions

If there are specific days you can’t host arrivals or departures, you can block them. You may restrict up to 6 days of the week, allowing full control of your turnaround schedule.

Connecting your calendars

If you advertise your property on multiple STR platforms, syncing calendars prevents double-bookings. The NZZL system supports two-way syncing with most major booking sites.

To connect your calendars:

  • Add your NZZL STR calendar link to your other platforms.
  • Get the .ics link from your other calendar and add it to your NZZL calendar tools. Once connected, any new booking automatically updates across all linked calendars.
